April also clerked for the Honorable Nancy Eshcoff Boyer and Honorable Paul D. Mathias in the Allen Superior Court in the areas of civil litigation and probate.

Education
April graduated from Indiana University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in Education. April received her law degree from Valparaiso School of Law in 1997. April served as a note writer on the Valparaiso Law Review and served as both a legal writing teaching assistant and research assistant. April was awarded an externship with the Honorable Nancy Vaidik in Porter County in 1996 and received an alumni academic scholarship.
Personal Profile
April is married to Jody Grunden, a Certified Public Accountant, and owner of Summit CPA Group, LLC, in Fort Wayne. They reside in their hometown of Leo. Their favorite activities include participating in a wide variety of sports with their two children. April and Jody have enjoyed coaching their baseball, soccer, hockey and basketball teams for the past several years. They also enjoy living in their hometown and spending time with their extended family and friends. April serves on the Board of the Leo-Grabill Softball League and the Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana, and serves as a Junior Achievement volunteer in area schools.
